Horse Back Riding

Bring your own horse or ride our horses. We have gentle horses for our guests to ride. Stalls, pens, pasture, or picket lines are available for your horse[s]. With five days of trails in my back yard and over 300 miles of forestry roads close by, we can keep you riding for your entire visit. Marked trails and maps may be provided. While riding our horses you will be guided; when using your own horse, you may go unguided.

We are located in the Pine Island State forest with over a million acres to ride, camp, and play on. If you want to ride in solitude, undisturbed by crowds, and see sights only few have seen, this would be perfect for you.

As the riding trails require some skill, riders should have average riding ability. The terrain consists of river crossings, ravines and an array of ground types. Not to worry for the beginner, we have riding lessons to get you started. We start all our beginners off in the round pen in a controlled environment. This gives you the skill and confidence to navigate the trails.

Our trails vary in length so it is easy to go for an hour or all day. The rides will take you through the forests, along and in the streams and meadows. If you are quiet you have the advantage of sighting the wild animals, for they are accustomed to the horses and will stand longer. Try a moon light ride, reach out and touch the stars, or be dazzled and awed by, 'The Waters of the Dancing Sky' . Better known as Ex. borealis.

We do have certain criteria for all riders, riding our horses.

  • No riders under the influence of drugs or alcohol while riding
  • No one over 250 Lbs
  • No pregnant women
  • All riders must be able to mount their horse unassisted.
  • Riders must show competent horsemanship and directional skills.
